ACCADDE OGGI… “29 GIUGNO 1983: Falcão trova l’accordo per il rinnovo e scateno davvero l’inferno…”
di Alberto MANDOLESI – Quel mercoledì 29 di giugno del 1983 accadde il finimondo. Mi trovavo negli studi di Teleroma 56 quando venimmo raggiunti da una soffiata estremamente attendibile: dopo 47 giorni di estenuanti tira e molla che avevano monopolizzato radio e giornali (anche l’Inter si era messa in mezzo alla trattativa), Falcão e il suo procuratore Cristovão Colombo avevano finalmente trovato l’accordo con la Roma per il rinnovo del contratto.
I colleghi della seguitissima emittente corsero subito in redazione per registrare un’edizione straordinaria del loro Telegiornale, e io non persi tempo. Andai a caccia di un telefono (non esistevano i cellulari) per entrare immediatamente in diretta con Radio Dimensione Suono (l’emittente per cui lavoravo).
La notizia si rivelò un’autentica bomba mediatica che esplose con una potenza deflagrante, ma la mattina dopo tutti i giornali mi rimproverarono a grandi titoli accusandomi di “aver messo a rischio con la mia rivelazione la posa della firma”. Insomma, secondo loro, non avrei dovuto divulgare quanto ero venuto a sapere (probabilmente per lasciare ad altri la primizia).
Per fortuna il mio intervento non bloccò nessuna firma, e il giorno seguente, alle 15.59 precise, il presidente della Roma mise il suo autografo sul contratto che avrebbe dovuto legare ancora Paulo Roberto Falcão alla Roma, e in segno di gratitudine e di rinnovata amicizia Cristovão Colombo gli regalò la penna con cui l’atto venne firmato.
La sera, trasmettendo dallo studio in compagnia del collega Rinaldo Boccardelli del Corriere dello Sport, mi pronunciai con un intervento educatamente polemico, raccontando a tutti quanto era successo nei minimi particolari. Quel secondo accordo con la Roma non fu fortunato come il primo. Ci fu la stagione della Coppa dei Campioni, quel rigore non battuto nella finale contro il Liverpool, a cui seguirono l’infortunio, l’operazione (natale 1984) e la rescissione del contratto scaturita a colpi di carta bollata e di sentenze di tribunali. Ma questa è tutta un’altra storia perché il 29 giugno di 35 anni fa, la Roma giallorossa fu davvero felice
