ACCADDE OGGI… 16 maggio. Inizia l’era di Dino Viola
Tante sono le date che sono state prima o dopo messi in discussione nella storia giallorossa, ma di una siamo tutti certi: il 16 maggio 1979, la data ufficiale in cui fu firmato l’acquisto della società giallorosso da parte di Dino Viola. Quel giorno fu ufficializzato, ma lui già ragionava da ‘presidente’ molto prima…
Arrivato a Roma per seguire il fratello maggiore, già nel ‘68 quando ci fu il passaggio di proprietà da Evangelisti a Marchini, con Ranucci presidente, Dino Viola provò a prendere la società giallorossa (“Volevo essere io al suo posto…”) e cosi cominciò la sia carriera da dirigente con il ruolo di consigliere con Evangelisti, Marchini, e poi vicepresidente con Anzalone, da cui acquistò finalmente il club. Da quel momento, cominciò una nuova era per i colori giallorossi, che la portarono sui gradini piu alti in Italia ed in Europa, con la vittoria di 1 Scudetto, 5 Coppe Italia e molti trofei a livello giovanile. La Roma da quel momento era ammirata e spesso anche invidiata da tanti, come lui stesso dichiarò anche penalizzata perche faceva ‘paura’. La Roma, sotto la sua gestione, toccò le vette piu alte della sua storia anche in Europa, con la finale di Coppa dei Campioni e Coppa Uefa.
Nel 1991 ha lasciato la ‘sua’ Roma ancora da presidente con il rimpianto di non aver fatto abbastanza, lasciando un vuoto incolmabile nella sua famiglia cosi come nel cuore di tanti amici, calciatori, dirigenti e tifosi che con lui sono cresciuti e con lui dono diventati GRANDI!
