La Coppa Italia del 1980 e la nascita della grande Roma di Viola e Liedholm raccontate quarant’anni dopo in un libro
Il 17 maggio di quarant’anni fa la Roma torna ad alzare al cielo un trofeo dopo un lungo periodo di astinenza dalle vittorie. E’ la Coppa Italia del 1979-80, quella che vince battendo ai rigori il Torino in uno Stadio Olimpico bagnato da una pioggerellina primaverile. E’ il primo trofeo di Dino Viola (che era diventato proprietario e presidente del club un anno prima) ed è quello che apre la sua indimenticabile era alla guida della società. E’ la Coppa Italia alla quale tutti i romanisti di allora sono rimasti più affezionati, perché con essa “abbiamo acquisito la consapevolezza di essere diventata una squadra vincente”, per usare le parole che l’eroe della serata, Franco Tancredi, ha detto a Franco Bovaio, autore di un libro su quel successo edito dall’Associazione Lupa Giallorossa.
“A.S. Roma 1979-80 – la Coppa Italia” è il titolo dell’opera, inserita in un progetto rievocativo pluriennale che l’Associazione fondata dal presidente Alessandro Conforti si è prefissa di portare avanti insieme all’autore. Un libro a colori, di 70 pagine, suddiviso in due parti. Nella prima si ripercorrono tutte le partite che la Roma ha giocato in quell’edizione della coppa nazionale attraverso i tabellini, le foto dell’epoca ricolorate dalla sapiente mano di Claudio Ciancarini e i ricordi, gara per gara, di Antonio Bongi, uno dei fondatori del Commando Ultrà Curva Sud, che proprio in quel periodo stava diventando il gruppo-leader degli ultras di tutta Europa. La seconda del libro, invece, è dedicata alle interviste ai protagonisti di allora, che con i loro ricordi, aneddoti e curiosità ci aiutano a rivivere quei momenti e la nascita della grande Roma di Dino Viola.
